🍭 The 2-layer marketing system looks different for everyone

Here are some options.

Happy Wednesday!

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been exploring how to design a marketing system that supports your energy as you grow beyond services into digital products and courses.

We’ve covered a lot of ground:

This week, we’re bringing it all together with the final email showcasing some examples of what the 2-layer system can look like depending on your stage of business, your energy, and your goals.

🍪 Quick recap of the 2 layers of your marketing system

👉 Layer 1: Evergreen + Searchable

This is your foundation. It works quietly in the background to bring people into your world, even when you’re not online.

Think: Pinterest, SEO, blogging, YouTube videos, evergreen email funnels, podcast interviews, PR features, and more.

These are the channels that make you findable and keep new people discovering you.

👉 Layer 2: Connection-Driven

This is the layer that builds trust and momentum. It’s where people feel connected to you as a person and start leaning in closer to buy.

Think: social content, your own podcast, webinars, challenges, communities, Q&A sessions, and more.

These are the touchpoints that turn interest into action.

Together, the two layers make your marketing system both sustainable and personal.

🍫 2 Layer Marketing System Examples

The beauty of this system is that it adapts to you. Your energy, your stage of business, and your goals.

Here’s how it can look in different situations:

Beginner mixes:

Example A:

  • Layer 1: Pinterest → drives new people to your freebie

  • Layer 2: Weekly email newsletter → builds trust and gently sells your offers

Why it works: Pinterest brings in new eyes consistently, while your newsletter creates connection without being overwhelming.

Example B:

  • Layer 1: SEO blog posts

  • Layer 2: Weekly email newsletter & welcome sequences

Why it works: Blog pulls traffic steadily, email builds a deeper connection.

Example C:

  • Layer 1: YouTube (long form video content)

  • Layer 2: Instagram marketing

Why it works: YouTube long form video creates searchable core content, and Instagram marketing adds a layer of connection.

Advanced mixes:

Example A:

  • Layer 1: SEO blog library + YouTube videos + Pinterest marketing

  • Layer 2: Instagram Marketing + YouTube Shorts

Why it works: Multiple base layers feed traffic through searchable evergreen content, while social media short form content adds connection.

Example B:

  • Layer 1: Pinterest + evergreen email funnels

  • Layer 2: Community + live Q&As during launches

Why it works: Steady discovery meets deeper engagement.

Example C:

  • Layer 1: Podcast show + blog repurposing

  • Layer 2: Paid bootcamps leading into signature program

Why it works: The base builds reach, the bootcamps convert warm leads into buyers.

Low energy mixes:

Example A:

  • Layer 1: Blogging (SEO & GEO rich posts)

  • Layer 2: Pre-recorded webinars and workshops

Why it works: Searchable layer that shares core content and webinars/workshops take the audience deeper and build connection (without having to be live/ high energy).

Example B:

  • Layer 1: Podcasting + Email marketing

  • Layer 2: Asynchronous Q&A (via form + video replies)

Why it works: People still feel heard, without the energy drain of live calls. The podcast provides searchable content that leads to another layer of email marketing that nurtures while you’re offline.

Example C:

  • Layer 1: Guest Posting (blogs, podcast interviews, webinars)

  • Layer 2: Email marketing

Why it works: The guest content is using other people’s audiences to grow your own (evergreen & searchable). The freebie that is shared in all guest content leads to email marketing that builds relationships and deepens connection to convert.

High energy mixes:

Example A:

  • Layer 1: YouTube video creation

Layer 2: Private community (with live Q&A, live workshops, and challenges)

Why it works: Long form YouTube content is searchable and evergreen drawing people into your space. The private community allows for connection and trust building.

Example B:

  • Layer 1: TikTok + YouTube marketing

Layer 2: Speaking, summits, and live events.

Why it works: YouTube videos are drawing people into your space (so is TikTok) AND building connection at the same time. The added layer 2 here is creating live engagements that help bring in-person or live connection to the next level.

Unique mixes:

Example A:

  • Layer 1: Guest podcasting

  • Layer 2: Private Micro-Community

Why it works: Borrowed audience exposure pairs with intimate community for connection.

Example B:

  • Layer 1: Paid sponsorships in niche newsletters

  • Layer 2: Quarterly workshops

Why it works: Ads get them in the door, workshops close the gap with teaching + trust.

Example C:

  • Layer 1: Paid advertising on social platforms + Email marketing

  • Layer 2: Retreats or live intensives

Why it works: Ads get them in the door, email marketing builds connection AND works behind the scenes to nurture them. Layer 2 adds live connection options to go deeper with the audience.

🍭No matter where you are in your journey, the 2-layer approach is about designing something that feels sustainable for you while making it easy for your audience to find and trust you.

🎯 This Week’s Action:

Take 10 minutes to sketch out your version of the 2-layer system based on your current stage:

  1. Are you a beginner, advanced, low-energy, high-energy, or building a unique mix?

  2. Circle one base layer that can run steadily in the background.

  3. Circle one layer 2 that adds connection in a way you can actually sustain.

That’s your system.
Simple, clear, and built for where you are right now.

😂 Meme of the week

Here’s to building your own sweet marketing mix — layer at a time 🍨✨

At the end of the day, there isn’t one “right” mix. The 2-layer system is flexible enough to grow with you and to adapt to your strengths.

Your version might be as simple as Pinterest + email, or as complex as SEO + podcasts + challenges + a private community. The important part is that it feels sustainable and effective for you.

Take a moment this week to sketch out what your two layers look like right now, and how you’d like them to evolve.

And if you’d like help mapping it out, that’s exactly what we’ll do together in a Your Next 90 Strategy Session. We’ll look at what’s working, what’s not, and build a 90-day plan that makes your marketing system feel clear and doable.

Have a fantastic day!
